March 2024: Children's Club & SVEA History

Thank you to all who joined us at SVEA 253 last Sunday! It was an exciting and enriching gathering! First, we’d like to thank all 15 children and 13 parents who showed up for the first meeting of our brand new children’s club! Special thanks to John Seest who taught a few dances and traditional Swedish songs that will all be performed by our children’s club at our Midsommar and Lucia events. It’s so amazing to see so many youthful faces eager to learn about Swedish culture! Thank you to Ingrid Wiebke for making delicious Semlor.

Another huge special thanks also goes out to John Bevelhimer, last week’s presenter for the meeting. John spoke about Svea 253’s long history in Indianapolis, our founders and their perseverance to preserve their culture. His research, and the time that he spent uncovering the rich history of this group brought us all a little closer to understanding why it’s important to continue our ancestral traditions. We all became even more proud for being part of this lodge, thanks John!

We also initiated 7 new members. Welcome!!

Our next meeting will be on April 7 when we’ll have our first ever SVEA talent show. Join us!
