In October, due to a last-minute change in programming, our members watched the documentary film "The Net Makers" by SVEA 253’s Cultural Leader Hannah Lindgren! “The Net Makers” explores the precarious nature of fishing and net making in Southern Indiana in the face of great cultural and environmental change and how that is experienced in the lives of two fishermen, for whom net making and fishing is central to their personal and cultural identity.
There was much discussion afterward about the history of traditional hoop fish net making as well as filmmaking!
