SVEA Summer Festivities

It's been a busy summer for our lodge, full of holiday celebrations and even prep for future festivities!

True to tradition, we had a hot and humid Midsommar this year! But it was a beautiful sunny day and we had a great time celebrating with around 90 of our lodge members, friends and family. In addition to decorating the maypole, enjoying music from Skandilocity, dancing, and eating a delicious pitch-in smorgasbord, we also had two nature-related crafts available! People enjoyed making cyanotypes (sun prints) and hanging stick and ribbon art. Our Sveaskolan kids also demonstrated folk dancing.

Mid-July, Sveaskolan and Skandilocity met at John Seest's house for the "Lucia in July" Kick Off. Annette Johansson led the music and we had 6 Skandilocity members, 8 Sveaskolan children and 13 adults present. This was the largest Lucia in July Kickoff in recent memory, and we expect a large and beautiful Lucia celebration this December! 

In August, about 30 lodge members, friends and family gathered to celebrate Kräftskiva! Everyone socialized while enjoying smörgåstårta, crayfish and of course, aquavit. Skål!
