We had a great March meeting! Spring is almost in the air. At our business meeting, we initiated three new/returning members. Welcome Karin Bridwell, Marisa Croup and Anne Luke! For the cultural program, there was a last-minute swap, and Cultural Leader Hannah Lindgren presented "Small Swedens," a look at communities around the world named or modeled after Sweden, and Swedish heritage towns. We hope to welcome Ken Schoon and his program about Swedish settlements in northwest Indiana at a future date! We finished with a delicious fika of soup and artisan breads, along with the usual yummy goodies.
Sveaskolan (our Children's Club) also met and practiced Midsommar songs and dances with Annette, studied language, and made a traditional craft: Swedish Easter birch branches, known as pÄskris! Thanks Ulla, Brenda and Ingrid for planning and leading that activity.
Join us on Sunday, April 12 (delayed a week due to Easter) for a program about Sweden's neutrality in WWII by our friends at A Flatpack History of Sweden podcast!
