In March we were joined on Zoom by Indiana University professor Lane Sorensen. Professor Sorensen presented "Old Norse and Runes in the Context of Germanic Languages." This lecture illustrated not only the beauty and diversity of the runic writing system in runestones and other artifacts, but also demonstrated the linguistic kinship of Old Norse (the language of the Vikings) to English, German, and other Germanic languages! All of our members who joined us were enthralled by this presentation.
A (very) belated THANK YOU to IU professor Lane Sorensen for presenting on the enlightening topic of Old Norse and Nordic rune stones! It was incredibly fascinating and we all enjoyed it immensely!!
We will see you all in April!
